Music In Africa Live Capacity-building Grants

MIAL was founded by the Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) in collaboration with the German Federal Foreign Office, Siemens Stiftung, and Goethe-Institut in 2020 as a three-year effort to help the African music ecosystem during the COVID-19 epidemic.

There are three categories of grants:

Showcase grants will be used to fund the creation of high-quality digital live performances, with a focus on professional productions that provide actual visibility, prospective export options, and additional chances for participants in general (musicians and audiences).

Grants for capacity development support digital programs that create vital skills for music professionals to negotiate the industry’s new difficulties and transitions, particularly those brought on by the epidemic.

Grants for Music Advocacy fund initiatives that use relevant information to advocate for the rights of musicians. It gives musicians who aren’t typically heard an opportunity to raise their voices and artistically package their acts in attractive ways that reach a broader audience.
