World Bank Group Africa Fellowship Program 2022/2023

The 2022–2023 World Bank Group Africa Fellowship Program is now accepting applications. The program's goal is to assist bright, young Africans who are pursuing or have just achieved a Ph.D. in a subject pertinent to the World Bank's mission.

The fellowship program has been a huge success ever since it began, building a strong pipeline of young African talent eager to work in international organizations, African governments, think tanks, and academia.

The program offers selected fellows a six-month assignment at WBG offices in Washington, D.C., or in country offices, so they can gain actual experience with WBG operations. In order to foster inclusive growth in undeveloped countries, this includes producing and sharing information, developing national and international policies, and establishing institutions.

Research, economic policy, technical assistance, and loan operations that advance the World Bank's purpose of reducing poverty and fostering shared prosperity will be the main areas of focus for fellows, who will also gain from research and innovation in a range of sectors.

In addition to round-trip economy travel to Washington, D.C., or a WBG country office, fellows are eligible to receive consulting fees from their university or institution.

They must be in their final year of school or a recent Ph.D. graduate (within three years of getting their degree).

Choice Process

Phase I: The various WBG units would make a short list of candidates available for hiring based on the applicants' areas of specialization. The status of an application, including whether or not it has been shortlisted, will be disclosed to the applicant.

The final list of fellows will be selected during Phase II in collaboration with the various WBG units. Following the conclusion of the screening process, all applicants who made the short list will be informed of their standing. The selected people will then be notified, and upon approval, they will be hired as temporary consultants for a duration of six months starting in January 2023.

The deadline for applications is August 25, 2022. We won't accept any late applications.
